Minneapolis is greatly popular and known for its numbers of lake which is located within the limits of the city and on its surrounding areas. As a matter of fact, it was discovered that there are actually 22 lakes found in its area. This is why it is also called as “the City of Lakes”. Crane Lake
One of the most popular lakes in Minneapolis is the Crane Lake. It is approximately 3,088 acre and has a depth of 80 foot which can be found just around the northeast part of the City. There are several different species of fish that are present in this lake. These are the walleye, sauger, smallmouth bass, Lake Whitefish, northern pike, blue gill, black crappie, largemouth, lake trout, bass, sturgeon, and yellow perch. However there are rules which are regulated in this area most especially those concerning the walleye fish. It is a rule that once you have caught a walleye fish with a size of 17 to 28 inches, you must immediately release it. This rule is also in effect in other lakes.
Lake of the Woods
Fishing in Lake of the Woods is one of the extremely popular activities throughout the North America although there is usually ice present in this lake. The main reason for this is that whether you are on your boat or only on the shore, you will definitely catch a fish. This is also known as the Walleye Capital of the World because it is the home of numerous walleye fish as well as the northern pike and the muskie. Species of the walleye fish in this lake can get as heavy as eight to ten pounds. On the other hands, the northern pikes’ common weight is 10 pounds and it can reach to more than 20 pounds.
